Amazingly, there are still 5 or 6 friends with whom I maintain somewhat differing degrees of contact with since that stretch of 4 days. To me, that is astonishing. Nancy wouldn’t believe it, were she awake to see it. Three have asked that I record the days with paper and ink. One or two touch base to make sure my pulse surges within reason. One stays firmly at arm’s length.
