The end of the year is creeping up on us.
Seems like yesterday we were all despondent because it was only January. Oh well. Fuck. Again.
That means:
Time for the PK awards!
Let's go with books this week, even though we might go with them next week, too.
Author one might want to try: Oliver Sacks (I read Uncle Tungsten, and though it is classified as a memoir, it treads heavily into science territory--while remaining thoroughly entertaining. He reveals the evolution of his mind while not so discretely unlocking the secrets of the atom. I closed the book a week ago and am still processing it. What a dark, yet promising, endorsement by me.)
Book one might want to try: Special Topics in Calamity Physics, by Marisha Pessl (Long, but incredibly original. A mystery. A protagonist that may someday rival the Harper Lee-southern macabre of Scout Finch. It cooled me out through a long, hot summer. Maybe it will help warm one through a long, icy winter. It stopped me cold. What a dark, yet promising, endorsement by me.)
Maybe it's my bias, maybe it's circumstance, but both are written by residents of Manhattan. (Big surprise--authors in NYC! What a dark, yet promising, endorsement by me.)
I've read about a couple dozen other books over the past few months.
I'd give them away, but I mark them and make notes. They serve as reverent reference to me. (What a dark, yet promising, endorsement of me.)
Nominations for categories from coupons to pxourn are now being accepted. Awards will be named at my will. No statues or compensation. Joe, Ween automatically wins everything you nominate them for. Participants might, not definitely, but might, get my autograph. That is all for now.
