Mmmm Hmmm.

(possibly the most challenging entry ever for what passes these days as "spell check")

Sling Blade. Who could possibly not like this movie?

Given, it does not precisely follow Hollywood formula.

But it strikes, to me, a circus juggling incarnation of ethos, humor, friendship, love, redemption, karma and, like all good movies, a thespianesque quote ability and-seemingly important to my friends--mimmicability.

I’ve spent the past couple of days pathologically talking to everyone in Karl’s rusty, groaning, world-weary-but-innocent voice. Literally, I’ve been imitating his sound; his drugged-down fury and blank insouciance.

I’m giving my small world the full-nelson Karl.

Even given to vocalize his intestine grinding, think I’m gonna poop in the nearer future, revelatory-get-me-to-the-perch on time, vocal cord gear-grinding volume during meetings.

People are starting to think I’m on another plateau. I recon I’m lookin’ to get let go.

Samples from IMDB quotes, I list them only to help your insight (to this weird link of a billion) bloom:

Karl: I reckon I'm gonna have to get used to looking at pretty people.
Dr. Jerry Woolridge: Yes you will.
Karl: 'Reckon I'm gonna have to get used to them looking at me.

(An articulation of my daily paranoia.)

*

Vaughan Cunningham: You always seem to be deep in thought. Tell me, what are you thinking right now?
Karl: I was thinkin', I'm gonna take me some of these taters home with me.
Vaughan Cunningham: How about before that?
Karl: Well, let me think... I was thinkin' I could use me another couple can’s that potted meat if ya got any extree.

(A typical conversation between me and my supervisor(s.))

*

Karl: There were these two fellars standin' on a bridge, a-goin' to the bathroom. One fellar said, "The water's cold" and the other fellar said, "The water's deep". I believe one fella come from Arkansas. Get it?

(Me trying to tell a joke.)

I recon I’m gonna have to explain this entry for a spell. My favorite words are recon, taters and “Get it?”

Maybe you had to be there.

Mmmm Hmmmm.

You and Sling Blade separated at birth perhaps? I can hardly tell the two of you apart in this entry.
